I've got a 55 vickey, 272, large valves and presently I've got a 600 Holley on it. I'm thinking of 3 deuces for my winter project. I've got an Offenhauser intake and just wondering if there are any prefered carbs to run on it. Thanx, Gary

I have Holey 94s, there are strombergs that are good. And for 500 bucks each you can get the new Bary Grant 2bbl .

All the Carbs that 55Birdman names are good. Good used Strombergs are pretty rare and expensive. Most parts are available for rebuilding them. They are now making new Stromberg 97's http://www.stromberg-97.com/index.htm if it is the traditional look you want. (that's what I perfer).

Right now there is a trio of Barry Grant98's for $1200.00 on EBay http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/NEW-BARRY-GRANT-DEMON-98-PACKAGE-3-CARB-COMBO-DEAL-WOW_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ33550QQihZ019QQitemZ290257585228QQrdZ1QQsspagenameZWDVW.

One thing I did want to mention though is that the Offy manifold is not the best flowing 3x2 manifold for the Y-Block if you looking for top perforance.

Johnson rod is correct about the manifold. Try to find an edlebrock manifold #553 or 573. Those are the best. Check with Charlie Price in Fla. at vintage speed.com He is slow to respond but he has what you need. Buy the carbs on ebay will be cheaper but may be hard to find 3 good ones.

Performance isn't really an issue. I had deuces on a 55 back in 63, mostly just a nostalgic look. Reliving my youth.....if I remember correctly. Gary

It has been so long I cant remember my youth.

I am starting a rebuild on my car, these should look a lot better then. I like the nostalgia look too. Get what looks good!!

What Johnson Rod & 55 birdman are saying is worth noting about the Offy intake. An old magazine dyno test & a dissecting of the manifold, reported much later in YBM, both confirm that while Offenhauser is a storied name in racing, there intake for the Y-Block was a Dog! If your 4 Barrel setup runs well now, you will likely be disappointed in the Offy setup.

After driving since May with demon 98`s on my wagon, this is what i think of them.

Easy to adjust, starts fine,1 pump on pedal and starts, leak free.same spares as "ordinary BG and Holley carbs"

Bolting them on is a little tricky ,they`r"fatter" than 94`s,so its a tight fit, when swapping jets carb nr 2 and 3 need to come of.

I´m happy with them so far

What is the difference in the 94s and the 2110s? I've just acquired a set of the 2110s for a 3-2 setup on my y-block. I'm now running 94s on an Edelbrock manifold and I'm told I should be looking for better performance from the 2110s.
