Hi folks, new guy checking in here with a question to which I just can't quite find the answer. I have a 55 2dr Customline I want to put 15" wheels on with 75 series tires and I need to know what size tire will fit up front without rubbing. Also, should the wheels be 6" or 7" wide. Car is stock height.I know this has been hashed over and over so thanks for your patience.

On my '55 Fairlane with stock 5x15 rims I'm running 215/75R15s with no problems at all. On my '55 Ranch Wagon I'm running 15x6 chrome smoothies with 205/70R15s no problems there either.

I believe your OE wheels will be 15 X 5". If you go to a lower profile/wider tire, you may need a wider wheel. If you go to the Tire Rack, or other tire sites, they list the tire height, RPMile, and wheel width recomendations. I found another site that lists huge numbers of tires, Tires Easy.com...I think. I recently found that Sams Club carries a BFG 15" T/A 70 series radial with a narrow WSW that is T speed rated. I think it is a BFG T/A Pro Touring. They were under $70.00 each. I think this tire is made for Sams only.

I running 16" x 7" (4" back offset) all the way around. With the stock drum brakes I had to run a 1/4" spacer up front to prevent the wheels from rubbing, now with the disc brakes,I don't require the spacer (no more rubbing on the top ball joint!) Front tires, 215 /R16 / 60's, back rubber 225/ R16 / 60's.

Once I decided on the wheels and tires I wanted, I ordered a complete package from Summit Racing. I got 4 205/70R15 BFG Radial TAs mounted on 15x6 Cragar Chrome Smoothies shipped for $670.00. They came balanced and ready to install. I've never had any problems with them. The closest any of the local tire shops could get was $800 plus tax! If you do a little research and know what you want you can save a bundle on-line.

Ive got a set of tires Pirelli radials that were on my 56 Sunliner for about 3k miles, that have been in storage for a few years. Id be willing to sell them for VERY, VERY cheap, if you are interested. If so, drop me a note at rgrove(at)tzaconsulting(dot)com
