Howdy Fellas —
Having an issue with ATF pushing out around the cap on my reservoir under acceleration. The can was resealed a few years ago and hasn't had any issues until lately. At idle it's fine, but once engine speed increases it starts seeping out.
The control valve was replaced a couple of years ago due to a bad leak with a rebuilt unit from concourse parts. Never had an issue with over pressurization. Fluid level is correct and not overfilled. It doesn't appear to leak when the wheel is turned, just with engine sped up. Link to video below.
Thoughts?

I installed a new gasket for mine and slightly bent down the tangs into the cap to make it tighter. Make sure the vent hole in the top is open. When I take off my cap to check level there always a lot of fluid in the cap so I know it’s splashing a lot from the return line.

There has been a problem with the filter? in these units. The replacement that some suppliers have is too small causing too much splash I guess. The larger filter is supposed to stop this (note - I don't have power steering, this is what I have heard)

I'll give that a shot. Vent hole is clear. Thanks for the info!

Filter is the same size as the fomoco I pulled out. When the engine is at idle, I can watch the fluid flowing with the cap off. I don't dare run it up with the cap off though!

Just a thought: Remove the filter, make sure the fluid level is where it should be then try running with out the filter. It may be the same size but it may not flow as freely as it should. Some aftermarket filters, air and oil, do not have the surface area as the OEM filters have. Also, any foaming of the fluid cold add to the issue.

Thanks, Mr. Jeff. I'll give it a shot.

DryLakesRacer had the fix. I gently bent the tabs on the cap up to make the seal tighter. Didn't realize it wasn't seating well until now. No more leaks. Thanks for all the help!

Sometimes we over think the problem. I’m one of those for sure. Glad it was an ez fix..
