Are these systems any good on a Y-block?

The FITECH or Holley Sniper both work well and are easy installs. With modern fuels the injection has a great advantage over carbs.   An in-tank fuel pump is a must to have a reliable system.  Often the guys with troubles have tried the external pumps or surge tanks which can easily over heat and cause stalling on cars in hot weather.   We recently did a '58 Edsel Bermuda with a sniper on a 410 inch FE and it looks very original at first glance under the original air cleaner and works fantastic.   Also get a pump with the one-way check valve as with out can cause excessive cranking to get started after sitting.

I have used the FiTech, Holley, FAST, and MSD units on various engines on the dyno including the Ford Y.  They all work as designed when due diligence is performed in insuring that there are no exhaust or intake manifold gasket leaks.  Electrical connections must be good and a reliable 12 volt electrical connection is also required.

Here are a couple of pictures of Ford Y’s on the dyno using aftermarket fuel injection setups.  While these don’t increase the power numbers, it does solve those issues related to both cold starts and altitude changes when going on long trips.
