My '55 Tbird is running an ECZ9425-B intake manifold and a 1848-1 Holley 4V. The stock coil bracket is mounted in the two holes on the passenger side of the intake manifold.  I have experimented with numerous carb combinations from dual feed Holley's, to triple carbs and dual quads. The issue always seems to be the coil.  I could mount the coil on the firewall, but I would have to drill holes in it. I have seen coil mounts that mount the coil vertically, but I wonder if the coil will hit the hood?  Are there any off the shelf solutions to this issue?  Other than the stock location, how do you mount your coil?  Thanks...

I'm not a Bird owner so I'm not sure what the issue is.  The coil bracket pictured is a quality part designed much like OEM and is available. Hope this helps, JEFF.........http://forums.y-blocksforever.com/uploads/images/abcbe6f2-f2bf-439a-a36c-53d9.jpghttp://forums.y-blocksforever.com/uploads/images/389b62b3-e9cf-4550-8802-fb15.jpghttp://forums.y-blocksforever.com/uploads/images/947c68dc-673b-49cf-915d-5ed8.jpg

I assume this bracket bolts to the same holes in the manifold you can see below?  Can you provide a source and part number for the bracket?  Turning the coil 90 degrees would work.

I made no modifications to the "-B" iron manifold and yes, it appears to be the same hole shown holding your coil. This bracket is a one hole mount and holds the coil securely. Try this link.  .https://www.summitracing.com/parts/fms-m-12044-a2

That's funny, I never thought about a one hole bracket.  Sometimes you can't see the forest for the trees. Thanks!

I had a 3 carb set up on my 54.  The manifold did not have the mounting holes that the stock intake has.  I made up a bracket that mounted on the two studs that held down the intake manifold and mounted the stock bracket to that.  Worked really good.  Went back to 4 BBL , don't remember what happened to the bracket so can't show what I made.

I have a Blue Thunder intake with a 750 Holley on my 57 Bird. Coil is mounted with the original bracket with no issues. Two bolts. the coil is lengthways on the intake. Don't see the problem

1957 Fords and Mercurys with a 312 and Carter 4v carbs had a bracket that mounted the coil longitudinally.

I am using the stock 1955 TBird coil bracket which mounts the coil perpendicular (photo below). When I installed a dual inlet Holley on my engine with this bracket, the coil hits the carb and fuel lines. Mounting the coil lengthwise would fix this issue. What coil bracket are you using on your '57?

When I first got my car the coil was mounted on the firewall and I didn't like it. I luckily found a bracket to mount it lengthwise in a bucket of extra parts, I don't know where it came from. My other engine has it mounted like Phil's, I wish I could find another bracket to mount it lengthwise.. Anyone checked the TBird suppliers for one? This is a 63-64 Bird type might work

Looking at the pics I posted shows how close the coil is to the valve cover. No issue with this but it might present issues with aluminum valve covers? The link RanchersJim posted for a bracket offered by NPD may be better.

I always wished for one, don't know why I never searched before, old age I guess. Your post inspired me not to be so lazy

The coil is real close to the aluminum (Tbird) valve covers.  You have to loosen up or unbolt the coil to get the cover off

55 used the bracket you have.  In 56 they changed the design
