Found this 59 for sale a few hrs from my house. it is complete with y block and 3 spd manual trans, however it doesn't run and is gonna need  panel work (floorboards, rocker panels, bed, cab mounts, etc) He has a title for it. The gentleman is asking $1500 for it. is it worth that much in this condition? I haven't bought very many cars in my short time on this earth and definitely nothing like this. I'm sure its worth what ever someone is willing to pay for it but a general idea would be helpful. Thank you in advance!

I’ll suggest insuring that the engine is not locked up.  That could be a show stopper.  As far as pricing goes, the initial investment is the smallest part of what will be spent on restoring the truck so it boils down just how much you want to spend up front.

Thanks Ted, Kinda what I figured. Ive already got a rebuilt engine and trans (y block). Just been trying to find a decent 57-60 truck to start working on.

I would think that your ability to do the body work would determine the economic feasibility of that truck. If you have to hire someone to do the work, I think you would be much better off to buy a better or finished truck. You can get upside down in a vehicle very fast if you have to pay someone to do much of the work. They are out there, just be patient.

This truck is not a good deal even if you got it for free, it just needs too much metal work.

The very best advice any one can give you, especially if you are not good at metal repair, is " buy the best vehicle you can afford".   there are better vehicles , condition wise pretty close to that price range out there for sale, you just have to look hard ,but they are out there

Thank you for the advice fellas. I decided against it after I looked into the cost of new panels.

Dill; A couple of the guys  gave you good advice, that's likely the best desision.. Besides, in my opinion, the 59 front end is ugly!  A nice 57 would look better or a 53-56 if you could live with the price..
