Did the 1955 Ford Victoria with automatic transmission come with the neutral safety switch or backup lights> Thanks Jerry

The other 2 Terminals on Neutral Switch are for Backup Lights if Your Car has them.

Was that a standard feature for the 1955 Ford?

B/U Lights was an Option. No B/U Lights would have a piece of Chrome on upper part of Tail Light where B/U Lights would go.

I think the question was did the 55 Ford have a neutral safety switch, The answer as I understand it was Yes it did with automatic transmission but it only allowed the starter to function in the Neutral position. Starting in Park or Neutral came in late 56.   There were 2 empty terminals on the switch for backup lights if the car did not have factory lights, Kits were available from the dealer to add backup lights to cars not factory equipped

55-57 with Automatic ONLY started in Neutral. Switch # B7AZ-7A247-A. 1958 was the first Year for starting in Park and they can be retrofitted to 55-57 by changing One Terminal on Wire. Otherwise the same Switch. I have done 3 of these retrofits. Ford Part # C1TF-7A247-A. Can be purchased on Ebay.

Kevink: As Mark points out, the change over to the later switch was in 1958.  That pre 58 situation annoys many drivers, on the other hand, I like to think of  it as a security item.. the thief leaves or puts the car in Park & it won't start...
