Does any on have a picture or diagram on how the backup light switch is mechanically hookup to the steering column. I have the wire but not the switch or bracket to hold the switch and where does it fit. Thanks jerry

.
The Backup Light Switch is also the Neutral Start Switch. You should have 4 Wires although I assume someone has plugged the 2 Wires for neutral Start together allowing it to be started in any Gearshift Position? The Switch mounts at the bottom of steering Column just above the Box. There is a Bracket that looks like a Muffler Clamp which has two screw Holes to mount the Switch. These Pictures show the One I am using on mine. It is a '57 Switch that retrofits and allows starting in Park and Neutral. Just requires changing one Terminal on end of Wire. .Otherwise it is the same as your '55.

That Switch is for Standard Transmission. Goes on the Transmission.

That would be a backup light switch for a standard shift car. Standard shifts don't have neutral start switches. It looks a lot like a switch offered by Hurst to be used when the shifter was moved from column to floor shift.
