Can anyone tell me what cars the ECK 292 Y Block was installed in. The 55 or 56 Ford Manuals do not list the ECK.

The three character PREFIX such as ECK is an engine series ID NO. This identifies the engine design year and actual usage. The actual date casting code along with the prefix ID will give you the numbers correct ID I think you are seeking. This same prefix is used on CASTING ID NOS to clarify what it is you are looking at. The CASTING ID NO(s) can be mixed in an assembly.

Say for example EBU. That identifies a 1954 239 DIF casting while EBV will identify a 54/55 239 CF block.

ECK block is right on the edge of the 55 and 56 tear production. It may be an error in the chart or the need to verify the CASTING DATE CODE to verify.

Does this help or hinder?

Yes.

Thank all for your replies! Looks like this may be the original engine (T Bird) to an otherwise very original car. It is also a very stout 292!!
