292 Y block with a TAAB 7505-A bell housing, 18 AF-7006-D Transmission and K0162-03 Clutch kit from Orielly Auto...

When I push the clutch petal in, The throwout bearing engages but makes a grinding sound.  I pulled the transmission and thought I had the throughout bearing reversed but it doesn't matter, either way produces the same problem.  The noise and grinding are the same. Not sure what to do at this point.  Here is a video of what it sound like...  Wrong throwout bearing?  I got everything as a kit.  Also below is a picture of where the grinding seems to be... any help would be appreciated!

Make sure the fingers of the pressure plate make contact at about the center of the bearing face.

Does the new bearing have the same dimensions as the take-out? Is there any damage to the fingers of the plate? Does the new bearing turn on itself freely? After pressing onto hub?

It sounds like the hub is hitting the plate fingers before the actual bearing.

It looks as if the hub is hitting the fingers of the pressure plate and not the bearing.  I don't have anything to compare the new parts to as this is a build that did not have an engine or transmission.  the fingers on the pressure plate are now worn and should be brans new.  Im thinking this clutch/ pressure plate may be a miss match for this application. any thoughts?

Thanks,

JT

So what you are saying is that you have a mis-match of linkage(s) parts as you do not have the original take-out parts to try and match? Where did you get the hub?

Does the step on the hub extend past the bearing face when pressed on?

The I.D. Nos. you provided are CASTING I.D. Nos. You have a 1964 F100 292 11" clutch with what transmission?

The fingers on the plate can be replaced maybe cheaper than a new plate if you can find a re-builder locally.

the hub came with the bell housing off of the internet.  The pressure plate, throwout bearing etc. came as a clutch kit from the parts store.

The hub does not extend past the face of the bearing.

Thanks

Sounds like it is the plate as Charlie suggested. Or you have a total mis-match of parts. Is the 292 a car or truck engine? Can you see any ID Nos. on the flywheel flange?

Can you post a photo of the bearing face  and plate fingers when you pull it back apart?

I prefer the Centerforce dual friction clutches (pressure plate and disc).  Had them on two cars with no problems (Y and a 302).  Its a diaphram clutch, easy to push on.  Had a parts store clutch and didn't like it.  Used a regular Ford throw-out bearing

That hub doesn't look like a Ford hub to me.  Looks more like GM.

If you would like dimensions I will be glad to measure the bearing and hub, then post results.
