Cab mounting rubbers for a unibody.

So yesterday I tried to put the new cab mounts in.  They would not fit so I called the company from which I acquired them and they say standard cab mounts will not work on a unibody.  I had told them it is a unibody when the order was placed.  Anyway they say that unibody mounts are not available.  Does anyone know if this is the case?  I've had no luck finding any on the internet.  Does anyone know what the dimensions should be so I can make them?

Charlie:      Energy Suspension, Prothane(sp?) and others make a lot of universal

          body "pucks", "spring isolators", and things like this that can be trimmed

          and shaped to fit if the originals aren't some crazy shape or ??

Who did you order from? I made the rear mounts underneath the bed out of oak and rubber like they were from the factory. The front cab mount (I thought) were the same. I'll see if I can snap some pictures for you tonight.

Thanks, Bill.  I'll see what energy suspension has to offer.  The original top rubber looks like it started its life round.  The bottom ones are square and are still in good shape - they didn't have much of a load on them.  Here's a picture showing the differences.

The new upper steps down to about 1 1/8".  I suppose it fits into the frame hole on standard cab models.  The hole in my frame is 7/8".  The upper I removed does not have this step.  The new lower has a larger, 1 1/8" inner diameter so that it fits onto the upper.  The lower I removed has a smaller hole - the difference in the size of this hole may not be all that important.

Greg,  I got them from Carolina Classics.  They are Dennis Carpenter repro pieces.  They said that the radiator support rubbers are the same.  They said that all the other mounts are different on the unibody.

It looks like Mcmaster-Carr has a good selection of rubber tubing. I think I'll find something there that I can make work. It's looking like it's going to rain tonight so it'll be a good night to get that figured out. The mount looks pretty simple.

Well, I ordered some rubber today. 3/4" id, 2 1/2" od Neoprene Spring Rubber. It's oil resistant, abrasion resistant, impact resistant, and weather resistant. So it sounds like it's the right stuff for the job. It has a Durometer rating of 75A which falls between the Energy Suspension offerings. I also got some grade 8 bolts, and nuts, stainless fender washers and stainless tubing to make new spacers. So hopefully all of this will come together to make something that works. I've made some cad drawing that I will post when I figure out what will work.

I got the stuff today. It looks promising. I should at least have something that works.

Are the bolts used for mounting the cab some odd size? I ordered 1/2-20 grade 8 bolts which will work fine but the old bolts have a different thread pitch, at the least. They definitely are not superfine 28 tpi and they are not coarse. The bolts that hold the seat to the floor seem odd as well. Neither my fine nor coarse threading dies will fit. Surely they are not metric?
