Friend had a rebuilt Starter installed. Noisy when Motor Starts and kicks out the Drive. What would be noisy in the Drive? The Spring?

The drive is the best place to start.

is the rubber gasket in place,leaving it out makes it easeyer to install,but contributes to noise
