I'm trying to determine the original color of our 56 Ranch Wagon. Is the paint code the second series of letters (letter) after the body type on the data plate? In that location there is an "E" indicating Colonial White (body color now is a root beer). Is the interior color listed on the data plate?

Funny story about paint. When I restored my 56 club sedan the paint colors were Bermuda blue lower and Colonial white upper just like the CE paint code indicated.

While striping the car I found a completely reversed paint scheme under the original outer paint colors. The lower had an entire white paint job under the blue and the upper had a blue paint job under the white. Same for the roof, the original outer paint was blue but the paint under it was white. Even the firewall was reversed,  blue under the original white outer coat.

I cannot believe this car was repainted and if it was it was completely  disassembled to do it as there is no place I could find that did not have an entire reverse of the outside color under it.

Anyone ever seen this or have an explanation??

Maybe it was a late Friday Afternoon Car or first thing Monday Car after a Weekend Bender. Very Strange its exactly opposite to what it was supposed to be when it was painted the first Time.
