I have one set of these ball bearing replacements for a 56 Fairlane idler arm. They fit easily on the long end but are two tall for the other. Question is do these normally come in pairs for both ends of the idler or just one?

Don't know but I was told by my alignment shop to try and find one...Are these available?

This was the cheapest I found. I'm also wondering if it requires one or two sets. The spacing may be determined where it fits into the frame bracket??

You should contact the vendor for information. No instructions came with the kit>

I did contact the vendor and they have no idea. Just a bunch of stuff in old parts they have. Seems to me that two sets would be needed but?

I put one of these on my '57 Bird so long ago I have no idea when it was or how it went together. My best recolection is that there were bearings on both ends. Never had a problem with it in all these years.

I have the instructions for the one I bought but it doesn't mention how many you need or which end of the idler to put it on. Except for the fit being tight on the short end I think it probably takes two sets.

Can you scan and post the INSTRUCTION SHEET?

Is your F/L manual or power steering?

If you Google 1955 Ford idler arm bearing kit. It leads you to believe that the two ends of the idler arm each get a bearing top and bottom.
It has been over 40 years since I put one on my Tbird ( it cost $15 when I bought mine ). Works well
The vendors make a kit for the 55/57 unmentioned  brand you could ask them. Pete

These may help. I have a spare frame bracket and if I can find it I'll check for the other end fit. It is shorter however and the stack of parts for this setup go beyond the cotter pin hole on it.
