Where's KULTULZ when you need him for an ID??

... sheesh ...

Didn't see the post.

I do not know. It appears to be a vendor number. The '56' may be 1956.

These people should be able to ID them - http://www.ssnake-oyl.com/mm5/merchant.mvc

Let us know as I am curious.

FWIW. I bought these belts from snake-oyl back in 2002-3. I did not pay the premium for the ford logo licensed products. Supposedly a 56 option reproduction. They are fabric on metal, and the fabric webbing is much stiffer and more coarse than what we’re used to.

The first time I was exposed to seat belts was when Dad started flying light aircraft in 1957, and most were this style. The first metal buckle / metal tongue I saw were in a 61 olds super 88 he bought new and spec’d as an option. My brother and I didn’t trust them, they weren’t like the airplane. (As an aside, Mom didn’t like the whole car, and in late 62 he bought her another Lincoln. Still has a Lincoln at 93 for her caregivers to drive her around in).
