I'm scheduled to bring supercharged motor to the dyno shop next week. The last time I test ran this motor was 5 years ago when I had the stock exhaust on it and a VS-57 blower. Now it has Rams Horns exhaust, a 750 cfm Holley double pumper and a 471 blower. My Comp Cam Card indicates the valve lash is hyd (which we all know is not correct) and when I spoke with them years ago, they sort of guessed at it and gave me cold lash numbers of; Intake .016" and Exh .018" which is what I test ran the motor at back then.

Today I spoke with Comp Cam again and this time they gave me cold lash numbers of; Intake .012" and Exh. .014" This seems on the tight side to me and I wondered what you guys thought. Here's some additional info; Cam Part # 37-000-5, SN# y-8431-12, Lobe Center 110, Intake Gross Valve Lift .491 Intake Gross Valve Lift Exh .482; Lobe Lift .319 Intake .313 Exh. Grind #; FY6440 / 6455.
Heads are iron 471's with Mummert's VS-105 springs.

Thanks

Interesting ....?? I thought Comp Cam lash specs (on card) were always a hot setting value... Which sounds like what he told you about .004” tighter.. Iron block & iron head will grow about .004” from cold to hot.. So if card calls for .018” hot you would set at .014” cold....

I've always found just the opposite on Y blocks. I set them at .021 cold and they are just about .019 when it heats up..
