Clutch Lever Boot?

I am ready to reinstall my new engine. Here is a photo of my bell housing with the new dust cover boot. I can't figure you how this thing goes back in.  I drilled out the old boot rivet.  I assume the steel prongs go into the bell housing and bend over to hold them in place?  Does the new clip go through the boot and into the old rivet hole?  I can't make this thing work unless I turn it inside out which bunches it up and interferes with the lever.   Back in the day we never used these things.  Any help would be greatly appreciated,

I looked at some Internet photos of this boot.  It seems half the boot needs to be turned inside out and tucked back inside the bell housing so the pin can hold it in place.  The wire clips should be bent to keep the boot from falling out.  This looks like some really crude stone age engineering to me, but I guess that's how it was designed to work back then.

That looks like it might be close enough for a 3rd gen Camaro or FIrebird rubber boot to work.  This is the one for my '88 Firebird.  Unfortunately, I don't have anything apart where I can measure it right now.

In the same vein-

I stumbled across this- http://www.rubberconnection.com.au/products/18763_CLUTCH-LEVER-DUST-SHIELD-REP-AB-7513-B-MUSTANG-65-FALCON-XKLMP-I6-FORD-55-58V8

It says the later style (C3AZ7513-4) will retrofit and replace the original leather AB 7513-B
