I’ve always had to have a donor car to get the necessary column and related transmission linkage parts.

Ted is right Best way is to get a Doner Car. Almost everything is different except maybe the Steering Box.

It's your call, but since it's a collector car & assuming your not handicapped in some way, all the trouble & expense to convert to an Auto trans would seem to be more than it's worth. Driving a standard on the column these days, is part of the uniqueness of owning a vintage car...

Also a three on the tree is a great theft deterrent.

Of course there’s always the option of going to a floor mounted shifter and not doing anything with the existing steering column. Just leave the column and pedals in place in the event someone wants to change it back to a standard shift later.
