Hello,
I have a 57 Lincoln with the 368 y block. I have access to a good running 59 292 y block out of a f650 truck. would this be a easy swap? What do I need to look out for. there seems to be a lot more aftermarket parts for the 292. Any help would be helpful. Also planning to use the stock trans in the Lincoln.
Mike.

Parts are harder to find,   but can be found.   Is the 368 whipped?   For as heavy as that car is.... you might be disappointed going to a lower horsepower engine.   The bolt pattern on the 368 is bigger, so your not going to just put the 292 in.   In the past week there's been a lot of questions about Lincoln Y's on here.   Have you ever been on the HAMB  website?   They have a forum over there specifically for Lincoln Y's.

IMHO stay with the 368.  It has enough power to get the car rolling and  has good performance.  It does have a different bell housing than it's smaller cousins and does have a different torque converter and flex plate.  The bolt pattern on the back of the crank is bigger so you cannot simply switch them across.  Also the 368 is fairly heavy and the front suspension of your Lincoln is stiff and designed for it.  I don't know how it would ride with a smaller engine.
