I bought a 368 Lincoln Y Block last week but don't have it home yet. It has been rebuilt and is missing some of the external parts (water pump, thermostat housing, exhaust manifolds, has no flywheel or bellhousing). I have tinkered with the Ford y block, but have never worked on one of these engines and know little about them. I am trying to round up some parts and will be asking for advice and guidance from you guys. Wish me luck!! Thanks.

If you look for a 302 or 332 big truck engine you'll have what you need. I have the bellhousing but no flywheel.

I have some take off's from mine, intakes, carbs, plumbing stuff, let me know if you need that kind of stuff. I think i have a spare set of exhaust manifolds too, If i dont contact you by this weekend, message me. We can work out a deal, it'll be cheap. If you were closer i'd offer the fordomatic that mine had too. The best auto you could go was in my opinion the olds hydramatic that came on LYB's at one point and might be worth going too.
Mine is getting setup with a 2x2 edmunds, and cragar bell. It's either going inplace of my 292 in my '59 ford or in my dad's '49, backed by a t85 OD when i find one.
Good luck on bell and flywheel, but i think i have heard something about FE bells being adapted? Also y-block distributers fit but i hear the gear needs changing.
Anyone know a fuel pump conversion? If it goes in my '59 i wont need the vacumn pump since it is a factory electric wiper car.

The big difference on the distributor is the truck engines. I've torn down a couple, I had a 279 that used a timing chain, so it turned the correct direction. The 332's used a gear drive, so the cam and . distributor turned backwards. Definetely count the number of teeth on the distributors to make sure they're correct. A few years back I sold most of my Lincoln stuff to 1 guy. I had a 332, a spare crank, and a complete 368 that was apart. He was going to have the 332 crank offset ground and make a stroker out of it. The 332 crank is drop forged whereas the 368 crank is cast. I also had rams horns that I sold him. He didn't use them cause he had trouble clearing the crossmember on his car. He bought a kit and made his own headers.

I'm pretty sure both the Ford y-block and FE fuel pump will work on the LYB.

Lincoln Y fuel pumps are all by themselves.. If you find one for a 332/302 truck it will be minus the vacuum pump.. The bottom part of the pump that pumps fuel is pretty much like most other Ford pumps. There should be rebuild kits available. Stick setups are problematic.. The car versions are rare and expensive. A truck bell housing ,flywheel, and clutch can be had from a F-600 or bigger but they use a huge 12 inch clutch and heavy flywheel and are made to bolt to a heavy truck transmission with different bolt spacing.. I have had some success putting a Saginaw 3 speed from a scruby pickup behind the truck bell.. Re-drilling the ears of the transmission will get things to bolt up

I stand corrected about the fuel pump. Was going on what I was told when I bought the engine. Thanks RB for clarifying. I've still got a lot to learn about these engines.
