Hi everybody, I would like to know how tough it would be to remove the engine and transmission together or separately. I have a 1956 Victoria with a 292 and fordomatic. also, any ideas on the whirring sound from the trans. every time I come to a stop. thank you

Pulling the engine and trans together is fairly easy if you have one of these.  This makes angle changes very easy.  Kinda pricey though if you only need it once.

Just make sure you disconnect everything.
Not sure about the trans thing.  I had a lot of trans's that  made that noise while downshifting coming to  stop  and never had a problem with the trans.

Not an expert on tran's though.

I bought an engine leveler from Summit racing.. they come with or without a crank handle.
Makes an engine and trans real easy to remove!!

Is the noise as you're coming to a stop?  Your throttle position sensing rod [no its not a kick down rod] could be out of adjustment ..

yes, it happens when i'm almost stopped. it likes for me to wait until the wirring stops before proceeding. this all happens pretty quickly (the wirring) and it shifts just fine otherwise. I was just wondering if this is going to be a future problem.

Someone will add a link to show how to line everything up. maybe just check it, see if it stops doing it. ?

I've pulled the engines on several 56 vicks and crown ics, i would not recommend pulling them as one unit.  Really to hard to handle.

thanks for the reply, Lou, I do worry about the 800+ lb. load. it probably will come down to how much help I can get.
