I have 55 Ford with a stock 272 V8. I've installed a Mallory Unilite distributor. I was wondering what the spark plug gap should be.

You can't go wrong with .035".   Joe-JDC

What does the instructions say/recommend regarding plug gap?

The purpose of a hotter IGN is a hotter spark obviously (if using hotter coil) and in order to take full advantage the plug gap is increased. It may also be possible to use a colder plug to take advantage of a quicker dist. curve.

Can't beat Ted's dyno experience - that showed the "hotter" ignitions didn't do any better with a wide gap than with the .035.
