My Crown Vic was converted to 12 volt when I purchased it. The temp gage stay on hot. It has only one sending unit on driver side rear of block. Should I try a 56 sending unit? After putting about 12 gallons or so in a m/t tank gauge pinned pass full and went out of sight. When m/t gauge show about 1/8 tank. Don’t see any drop voltage device connected to gauge. Do I need one or might problem be tank sending unit? Clock was disconnected do you need drop voltage devise on it or is it able to work on 12 volts? Is there other things I should look at?

The Gauges are powered by One Wire from Ignition Switch. You need a Voltage drop Device between Ignition Switch and Gauges. Macs Antique Auto sells One as well as other Vintage Parts Sellers. Ford used One for Years in the 60's on the back of Gauge Panel. You might find an NOS One on Ebay. Basically it is a set of Points in a small Metal Housing that open and close rapidly causing an average of 6 Volts on the output Side. the new Ones are Electronic. As far as the Clock You should check with One of the Companies that refurbiches Vintage Car Clocks.
