It was working fine, 4-5 weeks ago. Went to turn engine over....click. My thoughts are as follow. All voltages are 6.3V from battery through starter solenoid down to starter post. Battery, cabling are good. I'm willing to bet........ first....I've lost a good ground connection from starter to block and second.......the starter has gone bad. I would like to add a ground cable from starter to block. Any thoughts?

A starter on its way out can often be persuaded to work a few more times with a few healthy "love taps" from a hammer. Don't break the case gettin' your John Henry on, but don't be shy about it either.
A pair of jumper cables can be used to try and proof out the ground connections. Neg. battery terminal to starter case etc

POSITIVE to Starter Case. 55 is 6 Volt POSITIVE Ground.

You may also have a Battery that's dying. Just because You have 6.3 Volts through the Cables doesn't mean the Battery is not going Flat as soon as You put a Load on it trying to start it. Your local Auto Parts Store can test it for You.

If you haven't done it already, make sure the posts on the battery are clean as well as the inside of the cable ends.

6 volt battery is new. I also have a golf cart with 6 each, 6 volt batteries (36 volts). So I have a healthy supply of back up batteries for more cranking amps. I'll get to the bottom of it. EE retired with plenty of time on my hands. This is right up my ally. Thanks for your input.

Check the solenoid, starters don't click, solenoids do. Bypass the solenoid and see if the starter works.

I went directly from battery to starter. Nothing.....no spin. It did draw a small spark, indicating it was trying to do something but nothing. Engine did not turn.

As said before, tap on starter. Worn brushes sometimes don't seat on the armature because spring pressure is low on a short brush. Tapping gives some vibration to help make contact.
