I have two 292 blocks that I have had stripped, cleaned and machined. They pulled all of the oil galley and freeze plugs - a good thing. I bought and installed John Mumert's SPK kit for the oil galleys and freeze plugs. I have these two holes at the skirt line just above the oil pan on the passenger side that have nothing in them. The 1/4" plugs in the kit do not fit the holes. They are 7/16 - 16 bolt size holes. Wat goes in here? Thanks.

Nothing - they may be holes to hold the block for machining.  They do not go into the interior so they are ok as is.

Those were used at the factory for an engine stand.  No plug should be required.  The thread size would be 7/16-14.  7/16-16 is very unusual.

Thank you both. I did not have a picture before disassembly and I needed someone else to tell me they are okay as is. You were correct in that they are 7/16 - 14. Bad eyes on my part. Thanks again.
