looking for some guidance on restarting my yblock rebuild after being dyno ran and then just sat for 5 months. Really want to avoid pulling the distributor to spin oil pump. Would it be Ok to just start it, making sure the carb bowls are full, to start quickly? Good oil pressure on the dyno. Drain off a qt of oil, remove valve covers and refill thru valve train? Pull sparkplugs and spray a mist of light oil? Suggestions appreciated

Since it was broken in, it's probably ok to just start it. You don't have the same wear concerns that you would if it was not yet broken in. That said, pulling the distributor is a very good idea. Short of that, pulling all the plugs and simply cranking it until you have oil pressure should be fine to prime the system before starting.

thanks charlie, called the engine builder and he said to be sure carb is full and just start it. Should be fine. I was worried about oil drain down.
