Y Guys:

Finally got to run the Hurricane with the new engine and fuel pump.  Boy, have we had rainouts this year!  Best 1/4 mile run last night was 11.95 and 113.85.  This is with the 4.33 gear I switched to from 4.57 last year.  Best marks last year with the old engine and the 4.33 were 12.22 and 109.99.  Looks like this engine is a keeper.

Hey John ,

I'm good for $50.00 when you run a 10 second pass in the "Indiana Slammer "( Hoosier Hurricane ")Sure hope I have to pay up at Columbus .I know you  still  have it in you .I might even buy you a beer or six ???

Oldmics:

No secret here.  Last year I broke a C2AE rod at Columbus.  Decided I needed to upgrade.  I got a set of Eagle 6.300 long sbc rods and a set of Mummert's domed pistons.  Ground the crank to 2.100 journal size (sbc), honed the small end of the rods to .927 (sbc), narrowed the big ends to Y width, and machined the tops of the pistons for 0 deck.  Took off the dome plus .034.  Had to get another block, the old one was broken on the side and also a cylinder wall.  Bored it .030 over.  Rebalanced it, and assembled it with the rest of the old engine parts including the Crane 294/304 adv. duration cam.  Freshened the heads.  That's it in a nutshell, will provide specifics if you need them.  I basically rebuilt what I already had, just used lighter pistons and aftermarket rods.
