Rolling Bones to Bonneville 2017

If anyone Is interested the Rolling Bones will be heading to the salt with their "worlds fastest Y-Block" again this year. I know a couple of you expressed an interest. This is the travel schedule for the entire trip. I can post information on the food kitty along with the breakdown trailer if you are driving. We will be staying at the Wendover Nugget hotel and casino and there are informal cruise nights there throughout the week. If you are planning to go you probably need to make reservations now. There are numerous hotels and casino's around but the Nugget is where the action is. Let me know if you intend to travel with us and I'll inform Ken and Keith at the Rolling Bones.



DAY I - AUG. 5TH

   *** WE ARE CHANGING MOTELS  THIS YEAR ***

FROM THE SHOP TO PERRYSBURG ,OH.-  LEAVING AT 5:45 AM - 585 MILES

      STOP # 1----   LUNCH  ( FOOD KITTY STARTS NOW ) WITH THE ERIE COUNTY FLATHEAD BOYS AND GIRLS , AT THE STEAK AND LUBE  NEAR ERIE PA. – TAKE THE PEACH STREET EXIT  - TURN RIGHT - STEAK AND LUBE ON YOUR RIGHT .

STOP # 2  - I 80 / 90 , EXIT 59 , THE RED ROOF INN- 419-893-0292 , MOTEL IS ON YOUR LEFT - COCKTAILS , HOT DOGS AND BURGERS ON THE GRILL IN THE MOTEL PARKING LOT.



DAY – 2  PERRYSBURG , OH. - TO ALTOONA , IA. 550 MILES  

       STARTING OUT AT 6:00 AM -WE WILL GAIN ONE HOUR WITH THE TIME CHANGE.

   LUNCH STOP AROUND  JOLIET , EXIT 127 TURN RIGHT AT THE BOTTOM OF THE RAMP HEAD FOR CRACKER BARREL .  

    BACK TO I – 80 W / I – 90 W    HEADING FOR ALTOONA

    TAKE  US –EXIT 142 , 6 W / US -65 N  TOWARD BONDURANT / ALTOONA . GO ( 0 . 2 MILES )

  TURN LEFT ONTO US – 6 W / NE HUBBELL AVE. GO ( O . 4 MILES )

  TURN SLIGHT RIGHT ONTO ADVENTURELAND DR.

   MOTEL 6 DES MOINES EAST  3225 ADVENTURELAND DR. ALTOONA , IA        515 – 967-5252 WILL BE ON THE RIGHT

   DINNER WILL OFF THE GRILL IN THE PARKING LOT WITH CONTINUOUS COCKTAILS BEING SERVED.

DAY - 3    ALTOONA TO PAXTON  450 MILES

BREAKFAST AT THE DINER NEXTDOOR 7:00 ,AFTER BREAKFAST GO EAST ON ADVENTURELAND DR. TOWARD NE HUBBELL AVE / US – 6 W  GO ( 0 . O2 MILES )

    TURN SLIGHT LEFT ONTO US – 6 / NE HUBBLE AVE CONTINUE TO FOLLOW NE HUBBLE AVE  ( GO 0 . 04 MILES )

   MERGE ONTO I – 80 W VIA THE RAMP ON THE LEFT  

   STOP # 1 DENNIS SAUM’S SHOP FOR  “ SAUM’S FAMOUS LUNCH “ TAKE EXT 332  AURORA ,  HEAD NORTH ON  14  TO MARQUETTE ( ABOUT 9 MILES )  MARQUETTE IS A VERY SMALL TOWN OF 300 PEOPLE WITH TWO WATER TOWERS ON RAILROAD STREET IN THE CENTER OF TOWN . DENNIS’S SHOP IS RIGHT SMACK IN THE MIDDLE OF THEM. DENNIS’S PH. 402-854-2237 DENNIS AND FRIENDS WILL JOIN THE CIRCUS AND WE WILL HEAD BACK TO 80 WEST AND HEAD FOR PAXTON .

  BACK TO I-80 WEST FOR EXIT 145 AND THE PAXTON DAYS INN.

DINNER WILL BE AT OLE’S STEAK HOUSE




DAY 4  PAXTON TO ROCK SPRINGS WY – 485 MILES

                    STARTING OUT AT 7:00 ON I 80 W.

      LUNCH STOP - EXIT 323 FOR LUNCH IN THE REST AREA

 AFTER LUNCH HEAD WEST ON 80 INTO WY. TAKE EXIT 102 DEWAR DRIVE. THE BAYMONT INN IS AT THE BOTTOM OF THE RAMP. 307-362-1770

  COCKTAILS IN THE PARKING LOT , DINNER IN THE MEXICAN RESTURANT ACROSS THE STREET.



DAY 5  ROCK SPRINGS  TO OREM UT. * 200 * MILES

BREAKFAST AT THE BAYMONT INN THEN STARTING OUT AT 8:00 HEAD WEST ON 80 . THERE ARE A COUPLE WAYS TO GET TO THE MOTEL WE WILL DISCUSS THEM IN THE MORNING  OR YOU CAN TAKE  EXIT 15  SOUTH TO OREM , TAKE EXIT 272 TO THE LA QUINTA INN – 1100 WEST 780 NORTH   801-235-9555

  LUNCH WILL BE IN THEIR LOBBY LIKE LAST YEAR . ABOUT 3:30 WE WILL HEAD TO THE SALT LAKE SPEED SHOP PARTY TOGETHER AS A GROUP. PROBABLY AS USUAL CHRIS WILL HAVE PREMIER PARKING FOR THE BONES HOT RODS

 


DAY 6 OREM TO BONNEVILLE 125 MILES

 BREAKFAST AT THE LA QUINTA THEN STARTING OUT AT 8:00 HEAD BACK NORTH ON 15 THEN  TAKE 80 WEST AND DON’T STOP UNTIL YOU SEE THE  SIGN FOR THE --------------------

                          “ WORLDS FASTEST RACE COURSE “

  MAYBE “ BURT “ WILL BE THERE TO GREET US .

  WE WILL GATHER UP AT THE TRUCK STOP JUST OFF OF 80 MAKE PLANS FOR LUNCH ON THE SALT AND HEAD TO THE SALT TO SET UP OUR PIT AND TECH THE RACE CARS .

   DAMN WE ARE HERE AGAIN !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!   

 

  ***   IT’S NOW TIME TO BE PART OF THE CREW AND HELP SET UP THE PIT WHICH WILL BE OUR DAYTIME HOME FOR THE NEXT SEVERAL DAYS ***(we should finish this before heading to the Nugget to check in)

 BREAKFAST AND LUNCH WILL BE ON THE SALT FROM THIS POINT ON

-       7:30 dinner Los Cabos

Wed  9th.           -   Hotel’s continental breakfast

-       195 miles – LaQuinta Inn Orem UT

-       12n. Cold cuts lunch in hotel lobby ✔️

-       4p to SFSS, BBQ

-       (Pizza & beer in hotel parking lot?)✔️

Thurs 10th       -   Hotel’s breakfast

-        150 miles – Bonneville! Set up pit area.

-       12:30p Lunch on The Salt ✔️

-       Nugget Hotel check in

-       7p Montego Bay Buffet

Friday to ?    (Approx meal times each day)

                        -  7 – 8:30a.     breakfast on Salt ✔️
