aftermarket power brake conversion

I sure some of you had converted your manual brakes single cylinder to a dual cylinder power brake conversion kits.  My question is what did you do about your brake lights?  I tried over & over to make them work via a switch off of the brake pedal and have not have had good results.  Thnks, Mike

I put simple normally-closed switch to pedal stand what closes immediately when pedal is pressed (dont touch the switch).

This is what I did to my 54.  Same type if thing for my 64. Or what you could do is splice in a fitting in either the front or back brake line near the master cylinder  for a regular hydraulic switch.  Then you can use the stock brake switch wires.

I did pretty much what Paul shows. I don't know if I had an odd ball pressure sw, but my original brake lights didn't come on till there was a fair amount of pressure on the line. I like the mechanical on the pedal better because mine's set to come on as soon as the pedal moves. Just don't adjust it so close a bump in the road lets it go on.

That's normal for a pressure switch. There is a low pressure version that let's the lights come on sooner. The switch on the brake pedal is a better option as the lights come on with the slightest movement.

There is a Harley Davidson switch that will fit in the stock location. Its low pressure too.

Thanks Paul, the bracket I made is a little different than yours, but same idea. I have had 3 different switches on it & the point where they make & brake was too close, because I don't have that much pedal travel. It pushes quite hard. Do you find the same thing?  The original rod holes did not work (line up with the hole) in the brake pedal so I had to drill another & my pedal was closer to the floor.
  Yesterday I fabricated a new rod & my pedal is up to the top & my brakes work a lot better, but I still don't have much travel.  after viewing your pics, yours is a lot better design than mine as  the switch is a lot farther down on the one I made.. I will make a new one & Copy yours. Thanks for your help!
