Hi guys , new to this forum. Have a 55 f100 292 with three on the tree. Get,s very noisy in 3rd over 30 mph on acceleration but goes quiet when you ease off. Think it may be input shaft bearing, what do you think. Slight noise in 2nd , may not be be the same problem .

Either way theres a wear problem, pull it out and o,haul it before it gets worse.

I would expect input shaft problems to occur in all gears. If you get it over 30mph in 2nd gear, does it do the same thing? 30mph will only be about 2500rpm in 2nd so don't be afraid to test that.
And regardless, we can guess all we want, but given the possibility that the 61 year old transmission has never been rebuilt and it is making noise, it is now time for a complete rebuild. Get some quotes from some local shops and get it done.

Time for a 5 speed maybe? Or if you want to keep 3 on the tree I would go with a fully sycronized 3 speed from a '63 and up ford.

If the noise changes when you let off on the gas pedal it's a gear noise. If it makes the noise all the time it's a bearing. I agree with 55 Meteor that it might be the rear diff.

I'd look at the possibility of the noise coming from the rear end too. It can transmit up the drive shaft making it sound like it's the trans.
