What is the best way to fix a very loose dip stick tube 312 bird?.......Thanks

Not positive on a Ford but if you can remove it there are a few things you can do. Pinch it slightly in 2 different places apply some sealant and tap it back in. You can enlarge the tube by tapping in a slightly larger ball bearing ball (available at some Ace Hardware stores) they tap out easier than they go in. I've used a wooden dowel to do that. Good luck.

On my 56, the tube at the block is not really a tight fit but does not leak oil. If you use sealant, put the tube part way in, put sealant around the tube and push in the rest of the way so you don't get any inside the engine..

Thanks , ended up using the Right Stuff pretty heavy on the upper end of tube and bolting down, wiped extra off with enamel reducer to avoid removing paint sat over night and seems pretty tight now, not solid but think will be ok. This block the whole seemed bigger than my bad block but that's been quite awhile ago and that bock was discarded.
