Hey Butch. I was working out of Manchester, TN back in the late 80's. Worked for the "Extradition Corporation of America". They rebuilt the old jail downtown and we were transporting prisoners on extradition warrents all over the country. Long days on the road and not so good pay. Anyway just made me stop and recall a bit. Oddly I now live in Manchester, New Hampshire.

Progress?
By MoonShadow - 7 Years Ago
Late 80's. I gave them a year to fulfil a promise and they missed the mark so I left. Drove thousands of mile for them. There was a western dance club out towards the highway that I went to a few times. Don't remember the name. I also went up Rocky Top to the VFW one time. I left when I realized I was the only one not packing and that included the women! WOW!

It was a fairly big place with a balcony on at least 3 sides. Very much a old style wood look. Had a little fun there. Old is a matter of attitude.

How much for the 312 MadMuntz?  I live in Manchester.

You wouldn't recognize the town now.  Old jail is gone.  The interstate has caused a lot of "growth" and we have a music festival annually called Bonnarro.  Brings about 100,000 people to town for a week.  I usually go out of town at least for the weekend.  Causes gridlock.  What has happened to my little town?????

I liked it better before we "progressed", Moonshadow.  The new jail is now the old jail and we have a new, new jail, bigger and better.  I remember when the extradition folks were here, was that in the '80's?

Was the dance club Vi's Lounge?  There was a western dance club in Tullahoma too, "Cowboys".  Was owned and ran by Jerry Newton, the brother of Wayne Newton, I think.  The VFW will usually issue a gun if you don't have one when you get there, sort of a rough place  We're telling our age Moonshadow.

Why dont you just put the price you want instead of playing games, if its too much  for buyer so be it.

MM, Might want to snap a pix of crank flange and post it. That is the only sure way to identify that it is a 312. The ECZ - C block was also used in 292's in 1957.

Thanks Bobwanna, will try to get a pic.

MM, Glad I could help. This question has come up a number of times. Members here have joked that all Y-blocks for sale are 312's - until you open them up.
Now you can prove it is a 312. Good luck on finding a good home for your 312 - Bob

YblockerEDH, we should get together and have a cup some weekend. I live in woodland and spend a lot of time in Sac. I know a couple other Y blockers in the metro area as well. Nothin better n a bunch o Y-blocks in one place to spark the interest in folks. Probably should start a new thread for this. That way more local guys can read it and maybe ALL of us can get together.

Hi 47 Ford,

I have a 312 engine in Jasper, TN, 37347. I pretty sure it is a 57. The block # is ECZ 6015 C, the manifold # is ECZ 9425 B, the heads are stamped ECZ G, which I understand are the desirable heads. I'm currently not into Fords. I started out with a 352 back in the mid 60's, graduated to a 390 and then into a 429 (?) in the late 60's, early 70's. Since then I'm a Pontiac guy so please bare with me. Basically. I'm selling for a friend in Chicago (my old stomping grounds). I've got quite a few parts he wants me to peddle. I'm new to this forum and can hopefully post some pics. I also have a ECZ 9425 A manifold with the old teapot (?) carb and exc air cleaner from his 292, 56 full size. More parts which I will post later. I cannot ship, or prepare for shipping. Maybe I can scrounge up a small pallet at best. The engine is on a small cradle with wheels which I rolled into my Suburban with a chainfall. He is currently running a different 312. He gave up on this one because of low compression in 2 cylinders and had a backup engine ready. Not sure how to post pic's on this site, was going to post on ebay but I thought I'd get You a shout first. My ebay user name is "udyra" (pig latin for Rudy) if you want to check my credentials.

Thanks for the link, it said there should be an "aspirin size raised dot" on the outer edge of the crank flange. It's a big aspirin but it's there on the outer edge. Maybe it's an Ibuprofen?
