Somewhere in my notes it says that springs for the flat bowel Holly are the same and that the yellow spring was recommended for the E carbs. If so I will buy a couple of sets to try to get the secondary's to open up a bit earlier. Did this on the AFB on my '58 Ford 292 back in the day by gradually clipping off the spring. Having several springs gives me a way to go back and seems like a better idea.

The long yellow springs furnished in the spring kits for the 4150/4160 vacuum secondary Holley carbs would be the correct secondary spring for the dual quad Teapots.  Going with the short yellow spring will open up the secondaries a tad quicker.  Those springs are available individually without buying the complete spring kits from Allstate Carburetors.

Thanks Ted. Cheaper to just get the two I need. Ordered them tonight. At least my memory was right on this one. Their shipping was a little high but still much cheaper than driving any distance to somewhere to get them. Finally got the T Bird running . We have discussed this engine build several times in the past. Its pretty much a copy of one that you built and was in an article in Y Block magazine. You got around 427 horsepower with the Mummert intake and single 4 barrel. I am running the factory E set up. The cam is a lot more streetable than I thought it would be. Engine sure feel strong. Will be sorting out details for a long time but sure am happy with it. Thanks for all the input on this one. Its only been 4 years since I first took it apart.
