Mine does not have one,  Any other way to drain it? possibly by removing the lower tailshaft bolt? Suction gun or vacuum pump seems to be my only option. If I had noticed this before I had it rebuilt it would have been simple to drill the bottom of the case and tap it for a 3/4" pipe plug. The boss is cast in the case but it is not been drilled and tapped. Never saw a transmission without a drain plug. Wonder what genius engineer came up with that bright idea.

I guess you could try the lower tail shaft bolts. I have never seen a top loader without a drain plug, but anything is possible..

Lawnmowers don't even have drain plugs anymore. I don't know as I paid any less for my mower because of that, but it sure makes oil changes a PITA...

Around 1969 Ford decided to add a glued in magnet in case belly instead of magnetic drain plug..... Not sure what they were thinking ..??? When rebuilding I always drill and tap the bottom of these cases for 1/2" npt and use a magnetic drain plug. Yes you are correct you can remove bottom tail housing bolt for draining. Add sealer to bolt threads when installing.

Thank you gentlemen. Good info here as always. David Key, who I got my toploader rebuild kit from, recommends draining it and refilling with fresh gear oil 500 miles after a rebuild. Makes sense to me. I like the idea of draining it much better than sucking it out.
