I have a dilemma. I have a 3spd overdrive transmission that I would like to eventually bolt up behind my 292. Only after purchasing and really looking at it did I realize that the bolt pattern isn't the same as on the 3spd that I have in it right now. I found a bell housing with number taak 7505b and it appears that the bolt patterns are the same. Can anyone tell me for sure if this will work with what I have? Thanks for any information you guys can give me.

More info or picture of the trans would be helpful. Most 3spd OD I have seen/used had the same bolt pattern as the 3spd. I think the bell housing number taak 7505b is a six cylinder bell housing and won't bolt to a Y block

The bolt pattern is the same for three speed standard shift, overdrive or non overdrive, sound like you have the wrong overdrive trans.  Carl

If your screen name is any clue, you have a 1960 F100.  If the 3 speed overdrive doesn't match the bellhousing, then you either have a 4 speed currently installed in the truck or perhaps the 3 speed overdrive is the later 4 speed overdrive toploader, which does use a different bolt pattern than earlier 3 and 4 speeds.

Car and truck 3 speeds do not interchange.  The input shafts are different lengths and diameters.

There are some double bolt pattern T85s for the cars with 390 and 406 engines which will fit the narrow bolt pattern as well as the wide. I have one as a back up in case one of my regular T85s go out for some reason unknown.
