If I understand correctly, there are two sizes of windshields for 1957 cars. Can someone confirm that all Fairlane series windshields are the same size, as opposed to Custom series ones ?  And is there a base part # for them? I believe it may be 486?  And is there 3 types, plain glass, tinted & top tinted?. Planning on possibly ordering one & trying to avoid any screw ups.. Thanks

Per the 49-59 Ford Parts catalog, 57/58 Fairlane windshield clear is B7A-6403100-A, tinted: B7A-6403100-B.  57/58 Custom windshield clear is B7A-7003100-A, tinted: B7A-7003100-B.  Shade windshields were offered for Thunderbirds in 1958 and up.  They were an option on all cars 1959 and later.  There are different part numbers for 57/58 windshields verse the 59 windshields even though they look the same.

A further question --  is the 57 / 58 windshield glass F7A-7003100-A for a Custom series the same for both 2 door and 4 door Custom cars?

The cars with a wide upper molding (stainless trim) take the short windshield, narrow molding the tall windshield
