My engine is not running at the moment. Tomorrow, I'll remove the rocker covers and adjust the valve lash. I'd like to know what to look for re rocker oiling and if there is a way to be sure the passages are clear? I'm aware of the small tubes on each end of the shafts. Any hints that might show potential problems? Thanks jim

Everything under the valve cover should be wet. The easiest way to tell if the passages are clear is to run the engine with the valve covers look for oil coming out of the tubes. If any component is noticeably less wet, then there may be an issue, like a clogged or restricted passage.
When you adjust the valves, take note of the adjuster screw position. All should be nearly the same. If one is different, then something is off. It could be mis-matched parts or it could be excess wear in one or more components..

You can throw some old towels over the fenders and whatever, but y blocks don't throw oil all over like some engines. You'll know before the manifolds are hot enough to burn a wet towel.

I had to destroy the valve covers to get them off. Someone glued them on with something much stronger than silicone. They bent badly before they came off. I am replacing them anyway, but what some people will do just amazes me. They didn't leak as far as I know. Inside, everything was very clean. Cylinder #4 had new adjusters installed for some reason. Everything looked good Thanks again Jim
