I Posted this on the Hamb also, but thought this might be a better place

My Engine (292) had after market oil & temp gauges that I have removed. These were the cheap types with a plastic tube coming from the engine for oil pressure & a mechanical engine temperature gauge.
I'd like to be sure where the senders should go before I replace them with original types?
I can't seem to find that info in my manual, so thought I'd ask here.
The oil pressure sender installed is between the fuel pump & road draft tube.
The replacement sender appears to be too large to fit in that area. Is that the right place for it?
The temp sender is in the intake manifold at the rear driver's side.
Any help is sure appreciated
Thanks

Sounds correct. The Oil Pressure Sender is just the small type used for a Light. If the One You have is big and Bell Shaped that is for a Gauge not a Light. The Mechanical Gauge You have now is at least as useful if not more then the Idiot Light. Why don't You consider replacing the Plastic Line with Copper?

Jim,

The water temp (factory) is typically the rear of the drivers head.

My (bird) idiot light sender was back by the oil filter, and the under dash guage tee'd out of that port also.

Currently, the electric oil gauge and the oil idiot light senders are aft of the fuel pump location, and the other one aft of that. The plugs lower on the drivers side is the main oil gallery feeding the mains (think side oiler). I think any of them will work.

I've also run temp guages off the intake, on the head side of the thermostat. That's where the sender is for the EFI on my set up. It typically runs a few degrees cooler that the rear of the head. Not enough to matter.

Not to barge in but I what is the correct sender for the oil pressure light. I changed mine out but now the light stays on all the time.

Big window.. I think it depends on the sender if it's not stock. After markets come in different psi ratings. My sons race car has the low pressure light at 40 and mine at 20 and yes we have gauges too.
Also I think the sender needs the ground of the engine; too much Teflon tape could be the problem.
