I would like some discussion about MSD 2 step  pro,  con , things to look for never had any experence with one . The stall will be between 2200 and 3000 . One concern I have is pump shot in carb mite it need more or less. My thought is the pedal is already to the floor so no pump shot is needed there , but is there a chance of too much shot and maybe riching it too much. I have tried it and did not see much change in my 60 ft. time. Waiting for comments    Thanks Harry

Harry, I have a bog without the shot but my car is a stick. I have proved it to myself by not using the 2 step and having the bog. Now I am thinking that I don't have to be floored to be on the 2 step which I am thinking I will still have the squirt. I have not had a chance to prove that out yet. Being a stick I need some kind of slippage, I don't have a converter. Do you use a trans brake? Once you are staged, get your RPM up just enough to stutter right away before you mash it. I have been trying to come up with a way to find a partial throttle position before I mash it. I have been thinking about a solenoid operated stop on the carburetor linkage activated with my clutch linkage position. Clutch in, carburetor linkage stopped for 2 step. If you have a trans brake button you can use that, button in linkage stopped, it does not have to be too accurate the 2 step will do that.

Vic,
You might be able to use one of the mechanical brake switches that came on '70s and '80s F-series trucks, and I'm sure other stuff.  Make a bracket so that circuit is closed with the shift handle in 1st gear.  Use a second switch, a toggle, on the dash or somewhere easy to reach.  Wire the switches in series so that both have to be on for the circuit to work.  This way, the launch rpm will only be active when you want it to be and it will deactivate once you shift out of 1st gear.

You are close to what I have now Charlie. I have a switch on the 1st gear linkage and a switch on the clutch linkage for the 2 step. I just have to come up with a way to limit the linkage while on the 2 step.
