The radio in my 1955 is not working any recommendations on a good place to repair it its the original radio. 8 tubes with  chrome buttons

These guys have been around for a while, and offer several options, including 6 volts. They are not cheap. I've got two of the widely known replacement radios, and while they work, they don't look all that good. Unless you're really into restorations, think twice about repairing a tube type. I'm old enough to remember when the drug store had a "tube tester", you could fix your own radio or TV. Car radios were the worst, because of the vibration.

There is a guy on the HAMB that converts them to am/fm with ports for an ipod or mp3. As soon as I find a radio for my 56 I plan on having him convert mine.
