Is there any transmission other than a Fordomatic that will bolt to a Y block without an adapter?
I understand that there was a 1964 truck that may have used a C-4 trans with an aluminum bell housing"?
What about the FMX trans?
Thanks

Some have used C-4s with an adaptor from J.Mummert. The truck item I can't comment on. A few have done a Fordo-FMX hybrid setup. If you look back some here, there may be advice available on that.  And there are one or two outfits that have adaptor setups for Ford 4 spd auto transmissions, but that is quite involved & certainly not cheap to do.. One contact on the 4spd auto conversions is garycroan@gmail.com  or Ph# 949-722-1122 in Costa Mesa CA.  I don't have info on the other outfit at hand..

Green dot CruiseOMatic's up to 1962 were available with the 292. They will provide low gear starts with automatic upshifts. Best are the 61 and 62 as they had vacuum modulators allowing you to do away with the mechanical throttle pressure lever. 62's had aluminum bell housings. I am speaking of the car offerings; not sure about trucks. Not exactly hen's teeth, but close.

Thank you
I've never heard the term " Greendot"?

The shift pointer glass on the column had 2 circles, one white and one green corresponding to D2 (second gear start like a Fordomatic) and D1 for low gear start and automatic upshifts). I think the green dot carried over to C4 andc C6 as well.

Hi Broadie
That may be a good way to identify one?

Jim,

I remember seeing something about the FMX or something and the Fordo as a combination or parts swapping? I think it was by Hoosier Hurricane, who's not around here much anymore. Try over on the Ford Barn.
