Know a little about flatheads but not yblocks
in ford v Lincoln blocks, is the linc. Yblock bigger and heavier than the ford eng, or do they come from the same basic block??? Will the Lincoln swap with the ford engine without a lot of extra mods???
TKS FOR ANY RESPONSE

The Lincoln & similar truck engine design pre dates the Ford- Mercury engines by 2 years. It's bigger & unfortunately most of the parts do not interchange. I'll let someone else comment on chassis interchange issues..

The Lincoln Y-Block (317-368) is a completely different family of engines versus those of the Ford Y-Block (239-312).  While the LYB engines have the same bore centers as the FE engines (352/390/427/428), the Ford Y engines have the same bore centers as the small block Fords (289/351W/351C).  Even the bellhousing pattern on the LYB engines is unique to that family and does not interchange easily with anything else.  About the only part that freely interchanges between the LYB and Ford Y is the oil pump.  The distributor will interchange if the distributor gear is changed out accordingly.
