I would be very thankful if one of you folks with a manual trans from 54-62 would let me know what #s may be on your bell housing. I'm going to my local (Williams, Ca) wrecking yard to look for one to convert my 55CV to a stick. I will be looking for a complete pedal assembly as well. None of his cars still have the engines still in them. They are all in a shed and I have to go through them to find what I need. Any help PLEASE.
Thanks, Rowen

the 6394 is Ford's generic # for bellhousings, here's two... CAG and CAE and a pic of what you're looking for. Hope this helps, Barry L

Are all the car 3 speed bellhousings interchangeable?

Way back in 68' as an 18yr old I converted my 56 CV to a manual shift. I believe all I did was find a 55 or 56 Ford with a manual shift and removed all the parts I needed. Being 18 "I didn't need no stinkin' casting #'s". Worked out good. It was the best working manual shift cars I've ever owned. Wish the 57 I have worked as good as that one did.

Rowen  the bellhousing number is AE 6394 A ,this was removed from a 56 Ford wagon, the 60s are the same other than extra ribbing on the outer shell ,probably to make them stronger,  Carl
