i just disassembled a short block that was put together before 1966. except for the dried assembly lube, everything looks great.
the cam is/was new with new lifters. the center bearing surface on the cam is grooved. i'm trying to identify the cam. the only markings i see is on the end. my camera won't focus on lettering that small. but it reads J and then there's a C with an M inside of it followed by the number 4. anyone familiar with it? like i said, it's at least 50 years old as the newspaper the heads were wrapped in was dated 1966. a six pack of bud was going for 99 cents back then.
thanks
