I think mine were made in India. When I first rebuilt the engine I ran it with the hood off for the first week. Every time I hit a good bump in the road you could see the engine bounce around, pure crap and I wouldn't expect the Chinese to be any better. From what I understand most are being made with recycled rubber.

Has GOT to be frustrating, Cliff.
Balkamp used to be good quality stuff in my experience...
N.A.P.A. Ford y-block motor mount from BALKAMP is part no. 6021038
Cost for one is $10.35 each here in Syracuse, N.Y.

I've heard the same thing Jim mentioned.  Some components from some suppliers are being made with recycled rubber.

I hope that you don't have a N.A.P.A. Balkamp motor mount that you've had this happen with.
Let us know what you end up using as a replacement and how it serves you...

For ten bucks I seriously doubt that it would be domestically manufactured. If it is any consolation, I have had a nos Anchor brand mount shoot craps in a little over a year.

I used Anchor one time also and they were crap, I think they were made in Mexico if I recall.

Supposedly NAPA is coming out with a new line of motor mounts made from virgin rubber. Probably replacements for newer models, I doubt if they will make Y blocks. Keep our fingers crossed.

Maybe the poor quality of these mounts is why Dennis Carpenter no longer stocks the mounts. Lot of rubberised mounts were made in India as the yrs went on, then smae mounts were coming from China, guess its all about cheap manufactureing and quality??

Bob Martin is preparing an article on motor mounts for Y-Bock Mag. A lot of the racing guys Like Vic, Frank, Wally drill and bolt their mounts. I haven't had any issues with my mounts (yet) but I didn't want to take a chance with the torque my new motor was putting out, so I made a chain set up to hopefully prevent my motor from rolling up on the mounts. http://forums.y-blocksforever.com/uploads/images/1c529afb-a1a2-4d8c-86b1-191e.jpghttp://forums.y-blocksforever.com/uploads/images/6e0c0e8b-e087-4609-b7ed-ae9b.jpghttp://forums.y-blocksforever.com/uploads/images/bc395a1c-b69b-4334-af88-21e6.jpg

RE the NOS rubber mounts, NOS rubber is usually a poor choice.  It can look perfectly fine, yet is degraded so much that it just doesn't hold up.  About the only place for it is a show vehicle, where originality or period correct is the goal and an identical brand new part is not available.  Rubber and things like paper gaskets can also shrink over time - and you probably will not notice it when you buy it but you do when you try to install it
