I don't know how well it will work on a carb but mineral spirits works really good for oil/greasy parts clean up. I'm sure it would clean up a carb equally as well. And a bonus is you can get low odor so if you spill some the Mrs. won't smell it.

I have had great success on Holley 94s and 4000s by using an Ultrasonic Cleaner and a tank of half/half water and the cheap $ store cleaner called "Awesome". You can get a cheap ultrasonic unit at Harbor Freight.

I have being using Pine Sol for cleaning carburetors. Yep, you red right, Pine Sol.
It's usually an overnight stay all that's needed to clean all crude off.
Got some carburetors pretty dirty, with lot's of old fuel varnish and carbon deposits. Let them soak on Pine Sol overnight, then brush cleaned them with an old toothbrush, and some nice hot water. When you are done, just dry the parts with some compressed air, or leave them to dry naturally, and you are done.

I use to pass the Pine Sol on a filter, and use it more than 10 times.
Works for me.

Big Lots and the 99 cents store has the best deal on Pine Sol. I've also used it in my sonic cleaner. A vibrating tumbler works great for the linkage, screws, etc. I've made closed strainer baskets so I don't lose parts. I buy the "sand" at exotic pet stores, very clean. Good luck.

Supperclean works damn good, and it's not toxic.
