Hope I am not jumping in wrong on this post but have some questions.
I have a 1957 century with a 312 y block interceptor marine engine. It has set for 39yr. About to pull and start to go over.
Missing one of the flame arrester and seems they used to types. I have add a picture of the one I have. Will these to types interchange and how do they connect to the pan. Looking for one that matches or both of other type if they will interchange
Thanks for help. Ike
Your post would have been better asked as a new question in the technical section where it can be seen more by others. Feel free to ask it there also.
Without seeing the bottom of the valley cover or what it looks like with the intake removed, I’m guessing that the air cleaner element is in the valley cover. Here’s the pictures of a marine valley cover that may come close to matching the one you have where the carb air is pulled directly out of the engine valley. This one has obviously been modified to bring in carb inlet air from a different source. As far as I know, the carb neck attachments to the valley cover all mount the same with a single screw.
Here’s the cover off of a marine engine equipped with only one carb instead of two.
