I am trying to find out the correct battery group. I've been told it is "probably" a group 29. Thanks

Check with a Ford dealer. I bought one from them about 5 years ago. Less than 90.00. It's a truck battery. They may have to order it if still available. Early TBirds use the same battery.

Not sure if they are the same but my 56 had a 29 with a longer frame. I bought a shorter but correct one from Larrys T-Bird and was able to purchase a new battery from my local Power-Tron dealer. The newer Ford diesel vans that have 2 batteries have a perfect fit for the 56 only the posts are reversed which is no big deal to me. Funny the vans have 2 different sizes because of space.....good luck

You car could have originally had either a group 29 battery as standard or a group 32 as the heavy duty option.
The dimensions are Group 29 - 12 1/2" long, 5 1/2" wide, 9" tall Group 32 - 14" long, 5 1/2" wide, 9" tall
Each has its own different but relatively sized batter tray and holddown
Measure what you have and buy accordingly.

I got a new battery repo tray and a new B7A hold down and they are both 12 1/2".NAPA shows them but their online site says they are 13".I will just have to go and take my hold down and check one in person.
