Guys, I'm trying to convert a "Teapot" 4 bbl carb to electric choke.
I have most of the parts (the choke assembly and the electric heater thingy), and I think it will work: However, I can't figure out what returns the choke after the engine is shut off?
I'm sure originally that there is/was some mechanism or spring that accomplishes that, but I don't know what it is. I think I have all the parts of the carbs, but am wondering where I might find a picture that shows that assembly part(s)?
Any suggestions?
Thanks so much.

Here ya go. How to install and adjust.
The trick is bending the end of the spring.

Thanks to both of you.  Just the thing I can use for my TBird.

I'm glad it was useful to you.
Nice to be able to return a little something for all the good stuff you have given out over the years here and other places.

Kahuna,

You need to make sure the bi-metal spring in you're electric heated choke cap is wound in the correct direction, or when the cap heats up, it will try to close the choke tighter instead of opening it up as the engine heats up.

If the cap is marked "Lean" with an arrow pointing counter clockwise you are good. It can also be tested by using some heat (blow dryer or other) aimed at the spring and watching what direction it moves.

Hi Sal
Yes, the spring goes in the correct direction, I think.
I'm going to test this thing over the weekend to be sure.
Thanks again to all.
Regards
Jim

UPDATE:
The electric choke wasn't that hard to reshape the spring end and the choke operates just fine.
I need a fast idle cam for it, as I either didn't have one, or lost it.
I put an ad in the classified section for it, but if anyone has one they'd sell, I'd appreciate it
Thanks again for all the help.
BTW, I noticed on Ebay that there are choke conversion electric thingies that already have the spring wound in the proper way. Not sure if they'd fit, but if so, no mod needed
