This is just a mock up FE,with parts that I had laying around. In reality the 57 will run the Y block from the Falcon to start with, but a mid sized (434 ci) FE is in the works. The good thing is that the two engines share common mounts and swapping the engines is not a problem. Best of both worlds, Eaton 337 ci Y Block for the shootout or bad FE when I want to run with the big boys. I have some updated pictures of the chassis that I will try to post.

Glen,
It looks like you have been working hard and making progress on the 57. It's kind of cool that you can swap Y-Block to FE and back with out a lot of work. Keep the photo coming !!!

I don't know Charlie, may sell it are part it out or may just cover it up and let the kids deal with it. It will be awhile before the 57 is finished

Looks like you are following the South East Gasser rule book. Old school. I like it!

Old school is the only way to go! I'm heading up to Anderson SC tomorrow to visit with the Bone Shaker crew, maybe pickup a few more ideas and just maybe a few parts. Hope to visit several shops while we are up there, so don't know what we may come home with.

Hmmmmmm...
Well, the color is a conservative hue of gray on my computer screen, Glen. The color does show the body lines very well.
I don't think there is anything you can do in final assembly to soften your '57s demeanor and permit passing it off as a sleeper. It will never be perceived as a grocery-getter. The color may be sedate, but the body impression (lines and stance) even after the engine and tranny are installed will be... aggressive.
It looks GreaT! Kudos on what you've done!

The world at large has had little respect for the mid 50's Fords. In that regard any of them that runs well is a sleeper. Chuck

Maybe a 4 door would have been a better sleeper.

That 4 door must be pretty fast if he's lined up to run that dragster ? Maybe he thinks she has two engines but I has 4 doors and mine is a Ford, I win ! Glen, your 57 Gasser looks great !!! Larry Short

Thanks Larry, I have all the Lexan installed, I am using a glass windshield just in case we ever want to drive it on the street. Also have someone photo shopping the graphics. I am going to bite the bullet and have it hand lettered.

Hi Glen, Hand lettering is the way to go. The only thing I've found is make sure what you want and how it will look, once it's painted on you can't just peel it off. I'm lucky because we have a vinyl cutter at our speed shop so I can try out lettering before I paint it on. Make sure you look at work on other cars the painter has done. Talk is cheep, having a car lettered a second time isn't. I know you know all of this but sometimes a little reminder is good. Can't wait to see your car when it's done, good job ! Larry Short

Looks great. Would love to have a street version of it. Had a Custom 300 in the late '60's. Ran a 292 4 barrel for a while and then a '65 300 hp 390 until I sold it. Guy I sold it to rolled it and totaled it. Still looking for a Custom like yours. Have a spare .60 over 312 with the factory blower cam stashed away that needs a home.
